Hi there, friends. And welcome!
A few years ago, I started work on the Surprizle project as an online version of a game-based style of gift giving I’d been doing with my own kids. For birthdays and holidays – anytime I was giving a gift – I’d try to come up with a novel or fun unboxing experience for my kiddos.
For more than a decade, whenever a birthday or holiday came around, our kids would get at least one present where they’d have to solve a riddle, complete a puzzle, or go on a scavenger hunt to earn their gift.
Then, in 2019, in the spirit of experimentation, I took a year off from gamifying their gifts. And when our kids unwrapped their presents, they were visibly disappointed to find nothing inside but the gift. No challenge, no mystery, no game. No fun.
So now I’m back to making treasure maps, creating cyphers, and designing goofy puzzle boxes whenever I give gifts.
Sadly, though, there will come a day when my kiddos will have grown up and have left the nest. And it might not be convenient for them to drive across the country to follow a treasure map that shows where in our back yard I’ve buried their birthday present.
And that’s where Surprizle comes in – a patent pending, gamified digital gifting experience that builds some customizable fun (with a touch of unboxing anticipation) into online gift giving. With a process that’s easy enough for adults, kids, and adults-who-still-think-like-kids to enjoy.
So be creative. Be kind. And have fun!
